If I was moving into a new house tomorrow, I wouldn’t start by unpacking boxes.
There are a few things I’d want to take care of while the house is still empty because they get a whole lot harder once furniture and boxes are everywhere.
Before moving anything in, I’d:
🔒 Change the locks so I know exactly who has access.
🧼 Deep clean the entire home while every corner is still easy to reach.
🎨 Paint any rooms that need a refresh.
🔨 Take care of flooring updates or repairs before furniture covers everything.
🪟 Install curtains, blinds, and fixtures while the rooms are empty.
🚽 Replace toilet seats, change the HVAC filter, and check smoke detector batteries.
💦 Find the water shut-off valve, breaker panel, and other important home systems before I actually need them.
🐛 Schedule pest control if needed.
These are the little things that are easy to forget when you’re excited to move in, but doing them first can make those first few weeks in your new home so much smoother.
Save this for your next move, and if you’re thinking about buying a home in [City Name], I’m always happy to help you prepare for what comes next 🏡
